Logo & Key Art Creation
Devolver asked us to create the logo and key art for the release of new adventure game, The Plucky Squire. This brand new title from a brand new studio, All Possible Futures, created by Jonathan Biddle (The Swords of Ditto), and artist James Turner, wasn't just any key art job... we'd be illustrating the characters from scratch based on their vision.
We had to ensure that the key art matched Jonathan and James' art style, which was an exciting challenge. Devolver supplied us with character sheets, environmental renders and scamps for reference, which gave us clear direction on how to create the artwork to spec. It also gave us an exclusive peek behind the curtain of what was set to become one of the year's most talked about releases.
In addition to creating the key art, we also put forward various logo options. Once a route was chosen, we put it through a variety of different render styles such as metal and gem textures. This is a fantasy adventure, after all!
Devolver were thrilled with the results, and The Plucky Squire was singled out by the press and public alike as one of the many standouts at Devolver Digital's Summer Game Fest Showcase. Now that the game is out, it's clear that the excitement was well-founded. The Plucky Squire has received great reviews, including a mighty OpenCritic Rating with 91% of critics recommending the game.
We're excited to see our key art and logo featured prominently in the game's trailers, building anticipation for its release. It’s even more thrilling to see our work grace both the standard and deluxe physical editions, bringing the game's charm to life on shelves worldwide.
The success of The Plucky Squire, both critically and in its visual presentation, is a testament to the collaborative effort between the developers and our clients at Devolver, and we’re proud of our team’s part in that story. We're proud to have helped bring this enchanting game to life, from its initial reveal to its place on store shelves and in players' hands. Now that it's out in the wild, it’s clear that this plucky hero's journey was well worth the wait!
